hempscrubCellulite: a fatty deposit causing a dimpled or uneven appearance, as around the thighs and buttocks.

Those unsightly dimples that wreak havoc with your self-esteem and make you feel as though all that careful dieting and busting your bum at the gym has been for nothing. Your action plan for cellulite needs to be done from the inside out and surprisingly enough eating the right fats will not make you fat. These good fats will increase your fat burning potential and rev up your metabolism. February is the best time to start because for one you do not have to bear your legs yet, and second it gives your skin time to renew itself ensuring that you are ready in time for the beach.

The cause of cellulite is unknown but it can be due to a number of factors including; the weakening of connective and elastin tissue  which results in protruding fat cells, rapid weight loss, consistent constipation, hormones ,or a sluggish lymph flow. It generally makes its self home to bums, legs (mostly thighs and around knees), upper arms and tummies. Just because you have it doesn’t mean it can’t ever go away or at least look less prominent it all depends on the person.

Hemp oil comes to the rescue yet again. What can’t this oil be used for? There is no need to pay so much for cellulite creams and potions that never deliver plus they are chock full of chemicals which we do not want in or on our skin.  It contains high leaves of vitamin e (acts as an antioxidant) and omega 3’s that easily penetrate the deeper tissues of the skin. The more moisturized the cellulite area is the smoother the appearance of the skin, it also doubles as lip moisturizer and an SPF as well.  Daily dry brushing before you apply oil and drinking a nice hot drink like lemon water or ginger also helps in the detoxification of your skin. Essential oils can be added to hemp oil to make it a more invigorating experience. The most effective oils for increasing circulation and lymph flow are:  juniper, geranium, rosemary, grapefruit seed oil and cedar wood.

Remember that the best results will come from a holistic approach to body, mind and spirit.  You need to love your body, eat healthy whole foods, drink lots of pure water and be sure to sweat lots every day whether it’s at yoga class or running around the block.
